Tuck Point Blade for Sale
Over time the mortar joints in masonry such as constructions of bricks, stones, terra cotta or cinder blocks will erode and crack apart. To fix this, you need to replace the mortar which is called tuckpointing. This is when you grind out the mortar to a depth of 3/4 inch using one of our tuck point blades for sale.
As our tuck pointing blades (also known as tuck blades) are diamond blades, they will help you grind out mortar joints quickly. By deeply grinding out the old mortar, you are creating room so you can pack in a whole lot of new mortar and achieve a nice joint profile. A nice deep grind from a pointing grinder blade will also ensure the longevity of your project and will actually work like glue to keep your masonry bonded together and prevent weather from infiltrating the masonry walls and undermining the integrity of your construction.

How do you grind old mortar joints?
The best way to grind old mortar joints is to use a hand-held grinders and dust shroud attachment (used to protect you from concrete dust) with a tuck point diamond blade. You should grind out approximately 3/4 inch of the mortar to provide for adequate space for you to fill with new mortar.
What are tuck point blades?
Tuck point blades, also known as tuckpointing blades or tuck point grinder blades are a diamond blade that is thicker than the standard diamond saw blade. Tuck Pointer Blades are ideal for the removal of mortar joints, and for routing masonry surfaces (concrete, bricks, stone and pavers). While a normal diamond blade is only 3.2mm thick, a tuck pointing blade is wider like our standard 6.4mm wide tuckpointer blades. This is the most common width of tuck blade as it suits the most common mortar width between brick joints. Tuck point diamond blades work quickly and have a superior blade life and the best cutting ability. They are made from heavy-duty steel core, with powder metal/diamond dust segments. Our tuck point blades are usually used with hand held angle grinders and come in 3 sizes:
- 4″ / 105mm
- 4.5″ / 115mm
- 5″ / 125mm
- 7″ / 180mm
If you need a larger size for a demo saw or road saw, check out our loop blades for sale.
When would you use a tuckpointing blade?
Diamond tuck point saw blades are mortar removal tools used for crack repair by decorative and restoration contractor. They are perfect for prepping stone, granite, marble for new joints and brick cleaning.
Our tuckpointing blades are best used when
- The “head joints” or “bed joints” need to be replaced
- Mortar between bricks is old
- Mortar is cracked or damaged
- Mortar between bricks is weak
- Routing decorative joints into stone work
What is the Dual Sandwich Tuck Point Blade?
The Dual Sandwich Tuck Point Blades are two connected diamond blades designed to optimise grinding performance. The connection of the two diamond blades together gives them the extra width to grind out mortar. A Dual Sandwich Blade is also known as a tuckpoint grinder blade or tuck point grinder disc.
What is a Sandwich Blade used for?
The Sandwich Blade is a tuck point blade designed to quickly grind out mortar in preparation for tuckpointing. It is suitable for gaps, mortar and concrete removal and can be used with angle grinders, for stone, granite, marble, concrete, and brick.
How deep should you grind mortar out for tuckpointing?
You should grind out approximately 3/4 inch of the mortar to provide for adequate space for you to fill with new mortar. Grinding mortar generates a large amount of dust which is likely to contain high levels of crystalline silica. So it is important to buy a grinder shroud with a vacuum attachment to suck up the dust and prevent you from breathing in the dust.
Why shop our range of diamond tuck point blades?
Tuck point diamond blades are a perfect tool for the removal of mortar from masonry joints.
A diamond tuck pointer blade removes mortar faster than a standard diamond blade due to the thickness of the blade. The segment width of the standard tuckpointing blades is 6.4mm so it is more efficient to run along the joint once with a thicker blade. These tuck point tools are suitable for both dry and wet use and our tuck point blades are for use on angle grinders.
